Congratulations to the girls’ and boys’ teams on their performances at today’s Normal West HS Invitational. Several members on both teams finished in personal best times! 🙌🏾The varsity girls finished in 8th as a team and were led by seniors Mel Heine in 20th place 🏅, Sydnee Mosely in 33rd place, Sonia Williams in 38th place, sophomore Claire Gustafson in 50th place, and junior Dorcus Ikosi in 94th.

The boys finished in fifth place and were led by senior Elliot Batz who won his second invitational race in two tries 🥇, juniors Steven Hernandez in 14th place 🏅, Nolan Jared in 16th place 🏅, Traeten Holtam in 25th place, and senior Judah Kargl in 94th place.

The Rocks race at Crow Creek Park next Saturday in the PV Spartan XC Challenge. We hope to see many of you out cheering on the Rocks next weekend. 🙌🏾👏🏾🙂

The Rock Island HS girls’ and boys’ teams competed at the Moline Invitational to officially kick off the 2026 season. The girls’ finished in sixth place as a team and were led by senior Amelia Heine with an eighth place finish for a medal. The boys team finished in first place and were led by individual champ senior Elliot Batz and juniors Nolan Jared, Steven Hernandez, and Traeten Holtam in fourth, sixth, and seventh places individually. Congratulations to both squads. We next compete in Normal at the Normal West Invitational this Saturday. GO ROCKS!

Into our 10th year of coaching the Rock Island boys' and girls' cross country teams, we deeply treasure every group of young athletes who have taken a chance to try cross country. This week pushes these remarkable athletes to work hard, and it's exiting to conclude with a day of hard work and fun! We've had an incredible time, had fantastic weather, and are now geared up to start this season. This cherished tradition of going to Indiana Dunes continues to be a highlight, one that they look forward to each year. Conquering the dunes is a true test of grit, but the memories we're creating will last a lifetime. Go Rocks! ❤️💛

The heat at the start of the week had us sweating and forgetting to take pictures , but as XC camp week continues on we're still running wild and playing games to bond.
