Mrs. Stout’s classroom loved having Steven as a bonus reader for Dolly Day! 📚❤️✨

His parents, including Longfellow’s very own Mrs. Alexander, had an amazing opportunity through Augustana to participate in an educational experience in Jamaica earlier this quarter. 🇯🇲 They brought back some special items to share with their children, and Steven brought them in to share with Kindergarten- a boomerang and Jamaican money!

Steven read a nonfiction book about boomerangs, explained how they work, and even let our Lions explore and hold the Jamaican money. 🌎 He did a fantastic job leading the class!! We are so proud of him!

They loved having him so much that they’ve already planned the next read-aloud! Steven will be back to read about Diwali and lead a fun craft activity next quarter! 🪔✨

Our Kindergarten Lions celebrated the end of CKLA Knowledge domain for stories at the end of the First Quarter! 📚🎉 They worked on identifying and retelling the characters, setting and plot. They finished the unit by being crime scene investigators to solve the case of Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. 🦁🔎

🥨🔴 Place Value Fun! 🔴🥨

Ms. Veloz’s Lions had some ‘sweet’ practice with place value! They used Cheez-Its to represent hundreds, pretzel sticks for tens, and M&M’s for ones as they built and identified numbers.

Learning is always more fun when we can make it hands-on! 📚✨

🟣 Congratulations to Vafadari on earning the Pack Trophy for the 1st Quarter! 🟣

Our Lions have been working hard, earning over 31,000 points as a Pride this quarter! 🦁💜 To celebrate all that hard work, we wrapped up the quarter with some fun Minute-to-Win-It games on the last day!

We are SO proud of our Lions and all they have accomplished! 🟠🟢🦁🔴🟣
