Our interns are hard at work already!

Last week, four of our Education Interns participated in the Black History Month program. Rayna Henry chose to share part of an essay she wrote for our class in which she reflected on her culture and the role it plays in education. It's titled "Young Black Girl". We are so proud of her for sharing her experiences and truly making a difference in the lives of other young Black girls. Give it a listen!

Our spotlight intern is Olivia Kargl. Olivia is in her second year of the internship and is currently working with preschoolers in Ms. Long's classroom at Thomas Jefferson. She has really stepped up lately with her weekly reflections for our course!

Our intern spotlight this week is Shee Ler Moo! He is an intern in Ms. Mertel's freshman English class. Shee Ler brings a positive attitude everyday and is always finding ways to reflect and improve his skills!

Our intern spotlight this week is Claire O'Hern-Maidak! Claire is an intern in Ms. Lisburg's Kindergarten class at Eugene Field. Everyday she brings a positive attitude and passion for helping these young students. She's been a huge help with their LEAD program as well. Keep it up, Claire!

We see not one, not two, but FIVE of our former interns on the dean's list at WIU this semester! Way to go Jade, Ywa Hay, Nee, Jayla, and Emma!

Grayson Perion is our intern spotlight and is graduating this month! Grayson is a second year intern who has helped in Ms. Krahl's math class at Edison as well as Ms. Resch's English class at Rocky. Grayson is pursuing a degree in clinical psychology with a focus on early childhood at Eastern Illinois University. We will miss you Grayson, but know that you are going to have a tremendous impact!

Please help us celebrate our intern spotlight this week: Martha Abuke

Martha is currently an intern in Mr. Wayland's EL Biology class. He shared that Martha actively engages from greeting students as they enter in the morning to helping them with course content. As a native Swahili speaker, she is able to use her multilingual skills to better help students!

Our intern spotlight is Myles Davis! Myles is in his second year of the internship. As a junior he worked with Ms. Mertel's freshman English class, and now he is helping Mr. Allison's 6th graders at Eugene Field. Myles has shared that he didn't have many male teachers growing up and he has plans to change that!
