Macfeat Laboratory School Welcome to Macfeat Laboratory School! We offer two preschool classes for ages 3-4 and one multiage Kindergarten class.

We have served Winthrop University as a research and training site since 1885- the longest continually operating Lab School in America! The Macfeat Laboratory School, for children ages three to five, is operated by the Richard W. Riley College of Education, Sport, and Human Sciences at Winthrop University. Macfeat serves the college as a training/demonstration/research facility. Staffed by profess

ional educators with advanced degrees, graduate students, undergraduate students, and numerous volunteers, the Lab School provides each child with a unique opportunity to explore, create, experiment, and build social skills through interactions with other children and caring, competent adults. The classes at Macfeat follow a project-based curriculum, with units of study that allow children to learn core subjects through deep study on a topic of class interest. The rooms are designed with play-based learning centers that foster independence, creativity, collaboration and discovery.
