This has been a hard week for our Riverwalk family, and today we welcomed some very special visitors to help us through it — therapy dogs came to campus to spend time with our students and staff.

There’s something powerful about a wagging tail and a warm nuzzle when hearts are heavy. Thank you to our furry friends and their handlers for reminding us that healing looks like community, comfort, and even a little bit of puppy joy.

Four years running. Riverwalk Academy has once again earned the South Carolina High School League Sportsmanship Banner — and we’re the only school in South Carolina to do it four years in a row.

This isn’t an accident. It’s our coaches, athletes, and parents choosing respect and character, contest after contest, season after season. Proud doesn’t begin to cover it.

A little pink showed up around Riverwalk today. 💗

Word spread quietly last night, and many staff and students wore pink for Ms. Puckett — a simple, heartfelt way for our Lions to show they're thinking of her.

That's who we are at Riverwalk. We show up for each other, even in small ways, even on short notice.

Ms. Puckett, we love you, and we're with you. 💗🦁

Our hearts are heavy today as we share that we lost a beloved member of our Pride. Ms. Puckett wasn’t just a first-grade teacher; she was a spark of light and love who made every student feel seen and cherished. Her classroom, always a safe haven of laughter and 'high-fives,' will never be the same without her presence. We grieve deeply with her family, colleagues, and all the young lives she touched. Her memory is already a blessing, and her legacy of love will live on forever.

Counselors are available throughout our building today, with extra support focused in our 1st-grade classrooms and visiting the classrooms of her former students. Please reach out to the main office if your child needs additional support during this difficult time.

Sunrise, laughter, and a whole lot of Lion pride. 🦁☀️ Our seniors kicked things off with Senior Sunrise down by the river, then spent the morning making their mark, literally, painting their senior parking spots! So much creativity (and paint) on display. , you're off to a great start. ! 💙💛

💛💙💗 A Message from the Lion Family 💗💛💙

For several years, Ms. Puckett has poured her heart into her first grade classroom here at Riverwalk. Last year, she faced a courageous battle with cancer, and this fall she returned to her classroom, ready to keep doing what she loves.

Unfortunately, Ms. Puckett has recently learned that her cancer has returned. After careful thought, she has made the difficult decision to step away from teaching to focus on her health and her family. We are forever grateful for her dedication, her heart, and the love she’s given to our Lion family year after year.

Now it’s our turn to pour back into her. We’re selling “Fight Like a Lion” T-shirts in three colors — blue and pink, her favorite colors, and amber, the official color of appendix cancer awareness. 100% of proceeds go directly to Ms. Puckett and her family during this season.
