Y’all we made it! Meet and greet was a success; I got to see 14 of my 17 new awesome students and give hugs to some kiddos I have really missed over the summer. Now to go home, take a cold shower, and pass out…😂

For all of those gearing up for “Back to School” PLEASE remember this! I learned last year that no matter how much I tried or how many times I bent over backwards, I CANNOT please everyone. Trying to deal and overcompensate for every little thing left me burned out, sick, and depressed. This year I am planning to take more time for me to unwind/decompress, because I’m no good to anyone if I’m breaking down. Love yourself first, so you can love others. ❤️

Please remember this teacher friends

Yes, preach! A parent’s attitude towards their child’s school/classroom/teacher is a vital factor in their child’s relationship with said school/classroom/teacher. I have had parents that didn’t agree with me or like me before, but because we had open lines of communication and showed mutual respect our relationship had no affect on the one between myself and their child. I’ve also had parents who showed blatant disrespect both in front of me and at home. It had a HUGE impact on their child’s behavior and academics. Parents, you are the voice of your kiddos. You SHOULD stick up for them and want what is best. But there’s a way to handle it that benefits everyone, and a way that doesn’t. Whatever issues there are, and there will no doubt be some because no teacher is perfect, speak positively in front of your child. Whether it’s school supplies, a change in schedule, transportation issues, a mistake on a test grade, or another student in class, when respect and positivity are modeled for your kids at home, they show it at school. And it starts long before the first day of school, say when you’re buying school supplies...

Parents complain they have to buy school pens – teacher's genius response now has net boiling over

This is a teacher must read for back to school!! Last year was, hands-down, the year I struggled the most as a teacher. I am determined not to make the same mistakes again, and Brooke has some awesome advice in here for those of us with perfectionist tendencies that feel like we have to “do it all.”

This blog post from my bestie, Teach Outside the Box, is pure perfection!

Today was "Dream Job" day for Red Ribbon week, and we had a LOT of teachers! My favorite by far was this sweetie, who said she was ME! 😂 Because how could I not know that?! She wore all black (it'll change your life people) and had her hair in a "messy bun that flops all over." Apparently my hair game needs some work...

Y'all. I kid you not, the QUIETEST 10 minutes of the year so far. I had to capture it! 😂 They were SO into their bat fact writing that they totally forgot that they could talk! It made my teacher heart super happy to see them so engaged and to not have a single tiny person say "I don't know what to write."

Today we were matter! Well, different matter than we usually are; we pretended to be some H2O molecules and used our bodies and space to show the three phases of matter! I think their favorite part was being boiled! Hehehe... 😆
