A team from our York County affiliate will travel to Sabana Grande de Boya, Dominican Republic, from June 20 to June 27, 2026.
What is Global Village?
It's Habitat for Humanity's international volunteer program, where people from around the world partner with low-income families to build and improve homes, creating lasting change.
Today, the housing deficit in the Dominican Republic exceeds 1.4 million housing units. According to the Dominican Republic National Census, 4.8 percent of households live on dirt floors, and 20.9 percent of houses need repair. Global Village volunteers will support Habitat for Humanity Dominican Republic's objective of building 10,000 floors for households headed by women with children under 6, older adults, or people living with disabilities in Sabana Grande de Boya.
The initiative is part of a larger comprehensive intervention to improve neighborhood infrastructure, community, and basic services. We will partner with local contractors and community volunteers on a housing-related project designed to meet safety and livability standards, in line with Habitat’s vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.
