Being a Haitian -- the ONLY motivation you need until identity collides with mental health. (This may be triggering for some of us who grew up with Haitian parents who thought this is how you motivate their children). They believe that by spurring us with hurtful and mean-spirited words of "encouragement" they would help us be a storied success to the family to brag about. Anyway for me, this is the loop that plays well into the future.l my future, even after therapy, medication, prayer and Bible meditation, and encouragement from friends. This is the trauma that passes from generation to generation like a glorified inheritance. Three masters later, I still feel like a failure, because I'm not the doctor my mum wanted me to be and no where near being a success.

Shame!!! I wonder how history will judge us, our character and our world leaders because we stood by as an apartheid state committed genocide on the Palestinian women and children. We judge previous generations for standing by while Hi**er "genocided" 6 million Jews -- decimated a beleaguered Jewish population. Are we going to turn our heads during this egregious annihilation of the Palestinians?

When life seems unfair, unjust, and dark, I must believe that God is in control. I’ve seen things, done things and scrambled to make things happen in most cases, to not avail. I’ve been up and I’ve been down, and in between. I’ve been counted out; I’ve been underestimated. At the end of the day, I just need to BE! BE still! BE silent! BE patient! BE faithful! Best thing stay prayerful worship and wait on the LORD. He’s shown himself to be faithful, steadfast in his love. I will wait upon the LORD.

I’m reading thru the Psalms. What an incredible journey going through such beautiful poetry and prose. Each psalm speaks to the authors’ relationship to God and man. Some are fierce in the desire to see justice done, others cry out of sheer frustration, pain, and loneliness. There is expression of godly sorrow over sin toward the LORD, and still there’s more on the magnitude and magnificence of creation and its Creator. All these and more show the range of human emotions, thoughts and behaviours. The psalmists were unafraid, open and real, yet reverential and in awe. To them, God is the true source of comfort, forgiveness, shelter, grace/ mercy and steadfast love.
