Hochstein at High Falls: Tyler Westcott & Friends

Tyler Westcott is a poet, singer/songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based out of Buffalo, NY. Westcott breathes new life into roots music spanning multiple genres and decades. Also creating new music inspired by the old. He specializes in storytelling, songwriting, folk, country blues, traditional jazz, bluegrass and old time, western swing, and more. Armed with his trusty guitar, banjo, and harmonica, & the gift of the gab, he has a knack for describing the human condition with humor and joy, Often in timely and topical songs reflecting the current state of the world. Westcott will guide you through a myriad of genres and decades of eclectic roots music while seamlessly weaving in his own original cuts.

Summer's heating up at Hochstein! 🔥

This week was our Around the World of Dance Camp and Adult Chamber Music Connections Camp. Both camps closed with final performances and as you can see, everybody absolutely crushed it!

Great job to all of our performers, thanks for making this such a memorable week!

Pianist Paula Rodney Bobb has performed on toy piano in concert with dancers and a Mozart concerto with the RPO.

We're excited to welcome Dirt Turtles, who will be subbing for Public Water Supply, to the High Falls stage tomorrow, July 30, at noon.

Dirt Turtles describe themselves as a "friendly neighborhood h***y tonkin, rock-a-billy, blues band outta the WNY/Fingerlakes region" and we can't wait to hear them live tomorrow! We're keeping our eyes on the weather and will update our social media tomorrow morning with any location change.

The music of Miles Davis’ groundbreaking 1950s–60s era comes to life with a creative twist. Audiences will experience cartoon illustrations from Dave Chisholm’s acclaimed graphic novel, "Miles Davis and the Search for the Sound," and a moving soundscape of live jazz and tap dance. In concert are trumpeter and cartoonist Dave Chisholm, pianist Greg Woodsbie, saxophonist Colin Gordon, bassist David Arenius, drummer/percussionist Aaron Staebell, with Cheryl Johnson and Laurie Coles on tap.

The Hochstein Honor’s Scholarship Saxophone Quartet is comprised of four outstanding high school students from the Greater Rochester area who perform regularly in the community and for Hochstein functions. The quartet features a wide range of saxophones, including the soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophones and is at home playing in diverse musical styles ranging from classical and jazz to contemporary popular music. Soprano saxophonist Corrina Penner is graduating from Churchville-Chili High School and will be studying psychology at Roberts Wesleyan University in the fall. Alto saxophonist Drew Daniels currently attends Churchville-Chili High School and also specializes on the oboe. Tenor saxophonist Reegan Fenn is graduating from Marion Senior High School and will be attending the Arkansas Horseshoeing School to become a farrier; and baritone saxophonist, Maxwell Bolzner, who also specializes on the electric bass, is graduating from Webster High School and will be studying Chemical Engineering at MCC next year. The director, Nancy Boone-Bahr, has been teaching saxophone and clarinet at The Hochstein School since 1993 and is thrilled to be working with such incredible individuals.

*UPDATE* - Due to the air quality advisory, today's Hochstein at High Falls concert, with the Debbie Kendrick Project, is moving to the rain location at MCC’s Downtown Campus at 321 State Street. There will be signage to direct you to the indoor location.
