Teachers, program assistants, education technicians, behaviorists, school psychologist, occupational therapists, nurses, physical therapists, and speech and language pathologists are all involved in supporting a child’s learning.

There’s something special about the connection between horses and riders! The Monarch School of New England's team of therapists use the movement of the horse to support students in achieving goals related to coordination, strength, balance, communication, and more. Participation is always a team decision to ensure the experience is appropriate for each student's educational plan.

We were delighted to welcome the Rye Driftwood Garden Club to the Monarch School of New England's horticultural therapy program this summer! As longtime supporters of this innovative program, they joined a gardening class which aligned with the ocean themed summer curriculum unit. During their visit, our students stepped into the role of teachers, guiding guests through a creative, beach-inspired floral arrangement activity.

Each week during summer session, Monarch School of New England students visited the gardens at Lighthouse Credit Union headquarters to help with harvesting and watering. The students worked very hard - harvesting over 14 pounds of produce, including strawberries, peas, zucchini, tomatoes, shallots, onions, and lettuce!

The Lighthouse Credit Union gardens grow produce to support neighbors and local organizations that address food insecurity. Students also brought some of the harvested produce back to school to share.

Thank you to the volunteers and team from Lighthouse for providing meaningful community learning opportunities for our students that are interested in horticulture!
