Using physics-informed AI and MRI data, URochester researchers are mapping how cerebrospinal fluid moves through the brain — revealing how the brain clears proteins linked to Alzheimer’s disease and opening new possibilities for earlier detection and treatment.

What if there were an energy-efficient way to turn ocean water into fresh drinking water, without adding chemicals or generating pollution?đź’§
Researchers in Professor Chunlei Guo's lab at our Institute of Optics are using lasers to create a superwicking material that pulls water uphill across the surface, absorbing nearly all solar radiation and leaving salt and mineral deposits behind. This laser technique successfully extracted nearly 100% of the salt from ocean water samples.
