John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts college in the Catholic tradition of American higher education. Fisher offers nearly 40 undergraduate majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing. We also have a number of master’s and doctoral programs. For students who want to get involved outside of the classroom, Fisher offers 25 collegiate sports as well as over 70 student clubs and organizations.

A new initiative this summer from the Wegmans School of Nursing provided 20 first-year students to get an early start on their Fisher journeys!

The inaugural cohort of the Fisher Nursing Opportunity Program spent time on campus during a five-week residential institute getting acclimated to college life, with a focus on academic readiness and training to take the Certified Nursing Assistant certification.

St. John Fisher University has been ranked No. 22 among the 2027 Regional Universities by U.S. News & World Report. The 2027 edition of the U.S. News Best Colleges rankings evaluates more than 1,700 U.S. colleges and universities, using up to 17 factors to measure academic quality and graduate success.

The University also ranked in several other Regional Universities categories: 14 in Top Private Colleges; 11 in Best Value Schools; 61 in Top Performers on Social Mobility; 6 Best Colleges for Veterans.

We know that, starting right about now, the semester's pace picks up and our Cardinals have a lot more on their plates! But before the week gets underway, here are a couple quick notes about what's happening in the days ahead.

Our Fall Career Fair is this Thursday at 12:30 p.m. in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Athletic Center Fieldhouse. Over 100 of employers are waiting to meet you, so make sure to stop by one of this week's walk-in resume workshops ahead of time! And what better way to wind down from a busy week than an outdoor movie night? Join the Office of Student Engagement and Leadership in LeChase Commons Friday at 8 p.m. for giveaways, treats...oh, and a movie, of course! And don't forget, our on-campus clubs and organizations are getting into full swing, so keep an eye on The Cardinal Hub for all upcoming meetings and activities!

Our Leadership Excellence at Fisher (LEAF) program is entering its second semester, and the deadline to apply is coming up soon! Participants will build confidence, strengthen communication and teamwork skills, and explore their personal leadership style. This semester's theme will focus on identity development, featuring topics such as values-based leadership, goal setting, and allyship and community. The deadline to apply is September 20.

St. John Fisher University is proud to once again be named as an Apple Distinguished School. This designation demonstrates Fisher's commitment to students and employees, and how our utilization of Apple technology is changing the classroom experience and beyond.

Schools apply and are selected for this distinction based on their commitment to continuous innovation in education and using Apple products to inspire, imagine, and impact teaching and learning. This is Fisher’s second term, having first received this distinction in 2022.

The first full week of the year has arrived, and there's plenty for our Cardinals to do! This Thursday during Free Period is our Fall Involvement Fest! Dozens of clubs will be on hand in the Keough Quad, just waiting for new members to join!

Before we get there, though, there are plenty of other highlights to keep on your radar this week. Ahead of next week's Fall Career Fair, Career Services will be offering walk-in resume workshops over the next several days. And, of course, we're looking to see hundreds of our Cardinals back on campus this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for Alumni Weekend!
