Our Feature Concert on Saturday night includes Kanack's own Karthik Jaligama!
A current viola student of Alice Kanack here at the Kanack School, Karthik has distinguished himself in his solo and ensemble playing. He has been recognized with a scholarship to the Colburn Chamber Intensive and has been selected to serve as principal violist of the Rochester Philharmonic Youth Orchestra three times, as well principal violist of the NYSSMA All-State String Orchestra and All-State Regional Orchestra. He also currently performs with the Hochstein Scholarship Quartet and the Kanack School Tour Group.

This Saturday! We are thrilled to present Brazilian lyric coloratura soprano and our newest voice faculty Joicy Pereira de Carvalho in concert.
First Prize winner of the Goiânia Young Soloist Competition, two-time winner of the Marjorie Conrad Art Song Competition, and a master of bel canto, Joicy brings a unique blend of technical brilliance and warm, expressive musicality—influenced by her rich Brazilian roots.
Join us for an unforgettable evening for a program filled out with guest cellist Benjamin Doane and star student violist Karthik Jaligama! This concert is free and open to the public!

Fiddle Campers went to Genesee Country Village & Museum this past Saturday for the Fiddle & Folk Festival and we all had a great time! Thank you to GCVM for having us!
Our Fiddle Camp students CRUSHED IT on Thursday night at the contra dance playing alongside the Birch Trio at Rochester Contra & English Dancing!

Did you know that Kanack trains teachers?? We have trained over 250 teachers and teacher trainers worldwide in the Creative Ability Development Method!
1. This year's new teachers and teacher trainers with Alice Kanack! Congratulations, everyone!
2. Teacher training relies heavily on experiential learning. We play, explore, and explain as many of the classroom creativity games as we can in two very short weeks!
3. During training, Kanack students volunteer to come in for observation lessons for the benefit of our teacher trainees to see just how CAD is effectively practiced in private lessons.
4. Alice Kanack praises a student's engagement. Positivity is the crucial key to ALL the music education we teach at Kanack, and it shows!

From sunny California, Molly Tucker is coming to Rochester for Fiddle Camp! Molly is frequently found playing in dance halls, festivals, and listening rooms across New England and Canada, including Boston's premiere folk venue Club Passim and Festival Trad Montréal, delighting audiences and dancers alike with her infectious energy and groove. She and Casey Murray debuted their fabulous duo album "After the Sky Weeps" in April 2022.
