🎤 Meet the American Neuromuscular Founation Research Grant Presenter: Dr. Christopher Cashman

What if understanding mitochondrial dysfunction could unlock new approaches to diagnosing and treating neuropathy?

At the 2026 AANEM Annual Meeting, Dr. Christopher Cashman will present Acquired Mitochondrial Dysfunction in Animal Models of Diabetic Neuropathy, sharing emerging research on the mechanisms that may drive axonal degeneration.

As an instructor in neurology at Harvard Medical School and a neuromuscular physician at Mass General Brigham, Dr. Cashman will explore recent findings on the intrinsic and extrinsic causes of distal mitochondrial dysfunction and their role in the progression of diabetic neuropathy. He will also discuss the potential translational impact of this research for improving the diagnosis and treatment of length-dependent neuropathies.

Discover how advances in mitochondrial research may help shape the future of neuromuscular care.

How do you think emerging research into disease mechanisms will influence the next generation of neuropathy treatments?
