Young Adult Book Discussion (September): "Persepolis" (2000) by Marjane Satrapi
Discussion on Wednesday 23rd, 5:00-6:00pm

In powerful black-and-white comic strip images, Satrapi tells the story of her life in Tehran, Iran from ages six to fourteen, years that saw the overthrow of the Shah’s regime, the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, and the devastating effects of war with Iraq. Involves themes of cultural heritage, war and resistance, and religion.

Summer has officially begun, and that means so has summer reading! This year's theme is "Unearth A Story." Lyell Branch has chosen a very special mascot to go along with the theme: introducing Perry the Parasaurolophus! He lived in the late Cretaceous period in modern-day Canada and the United States. Discover more about him and his dinosaur friends at the library this summer with this amazing book display and through our children's summer program series. We had the great pleasure of having the -mobile at Lyell Branch today! They brought so many fun and interesting critters to share with us. Join us again on Wednesday, August 12th for another visit from the zoo-mobile!
