Today is Maria Montessori’s birthday, and we are celebrating some of the people who carry her work forward at RMS.

Meet our Toddler and Children’s House teams!

Every day, these teachers and assistants prepare environments where our youngest students can develop independence, confidence, curiosity, grace and courtesy, and a growing sense of responsibility for themselves and their communities.

Maria Montessori was born on August 31, 1870. More than 150 years later, her respect for children and her understanding of how they learn continue to shape the work in our classrooms.

We are grateful for the care, expertise, and energy our Toddler and Children’s House teams bring to RMS each day.

What a wonderful way to begin the 2026–27 school year.

On Monday, children and families returned to campus for the first day of school. We saw joyful reunions, new introductions, encouraging goodbyes, and so many children ready to begin exploring their classrooms and communities.

The first day carries a little bit of everything: excitement, anticipation, courage, curiosity, and the comfort of familiar faces. We are grateful to begin another year together with our RMS students, families, and staff.

Today, RMS alumni from the high school Class of 2026 returned to Rochester Montessori School for a special cap-and-gown walk through campus. 🎓

Graduating seniors visited classrooms, reconnected with guides, shared memories, and spent time with younger students who were excited to meet them and hear about their experiences. From hugs in the hallways to conversations across age levels, the day was filled with meaningful full-circle moments.

Watching these graduates return reminded us of the lasting impact of a small, connected community and an education that supports children from toddler through middle school, preparing them for the journeys ahead. We are incredibly proud of each of these students and grateful they came back to share this milestone with us.
