New at Hugger this year! ✨

You may notice two new AAC/Communication Boards on the playground! These boards give kids another way to communicate while they play — whether they communicate with spoken words, gestures, pictures, AAC, or a combination.

And they aren’t just for kids who use AAC! 💛

Communication boards can serve as a bridge during play, helping children share an idea, ask for something, join a game, tell someone to stop, say they’re hurt, or simply connect with a friend when the words don’t come easily.

Families can help normalize AAC too! When you’re at the playground, try pointing to a word or picture as you say it: “go,” “swing,” “play,” “help,” “stop,” “my turn.” There’s no pressure for a child to point back — we’re simply showing them another way communication can happen.

More ways to communicate = more ways to connect. 💛

We’re so excited to see these boards at Hugger and to continue building a playground where every child has a voice and every way of communicating is valued. 🐾

We’d love to see other examples of inclusion in action! Share something your school or our district is doing to help every student feel welcome, included, and supported!!

Help teachers get to know your student! 💙

PAC has created a fillable “All About Me” template that families and caregivers can complete and share with the student’s teachers. It’s a simple way to highlight the student’s strengths, interests, needs, and the strategies that help them succeed.

Download the attached PDF, fill it out, and share it with the student’s educational team!
