The new name honors our nursing foundation while reflecting our longstanding work across education, research, and practice at URochester Medicine—and the future we are building in the health sciences.

Caris Trippe '21N is paying it forward for night shift workers. 🌙

As a Strong Memorial Hospital neuromedicine ICU nurse and former EMT, Caris noticed that her phone and smart watch would warn her she hadn't walked enough steps, even on her busiest overnight shifts, because the health metrics reset at midnight.

The nurse entrepreneur created a solution: an app called Night Shift Mode that lets users track their wellness on their own unique schedules.

Compassionate, skilled nurses shaped Uriah Huffman’s path to healthcare. Now, she’s joining them. 🩺

Chosen as the Accelerated Bachelor’s class speaker for our summer pinning ceremony, Uriah shared insights and lessons learned from being both a student nurse and a patient in her remarks.

She joins the nursing profession from an impressive first career as a dancer, choreographer, and dance program director in her home state of South Carolina. This fall, she’ll start a new role as an RN with Cardiac Care Nursing at URochester Medicine on the Advanced Cardiac Transplant Progressive Care unit. 🫀 Congratulations, Uriah! 🩵
