On the OCFS website you will see that Annie’s Playcare has 2 corrected Violations. These 2 violations in the 34 years of doing childcare are the only 2 I have ever received. The first violation is because I had my granddaughter come for a visit. I had medical record papers here at the daycare, which is a regulation, but because she wasn’t a regular daycare child I didn’t have the information in the files with the other daycare children. When I was asked to show my granddaughters papers I was unable to locate them at the time. Come and find out the papers were in the back of the file cabinet but when I finally found them it was too late my licensor had left by then. But I did show her and she knows and believed that I had them they just have to be presented at time of visit.
The second violation was due to the fact that a couple years ago I must’ve forgot to write down a shelter in place drill. 2 x’s a year we need to do a drill with the children in case we are ever required to keep them over night. My staff and I know we performed one because we always put it onto the calendar which we did. I just must’ve never remembered to put it onto the drill sheet for OCFS. With childcare you can easily get distracted. And chances are that’s what happened.
Any violation is a serious violation. The regulations are put into place to keep children safe. I wanted you to know these violations because on the OCFS website they don’t let us explain what the violation was for just the regulation it falls under. So I wanted people looking into and interested in our daycare to know exactly what these violations were and why they happened. For both of these violations the regulation was performed, I had the medical papers and we did the shelter in place drill. So the regulation was met. One was misplaced and the other was just not written down. The two violations have been corrected.
Also on the OCFS website it states a serious injury was reported we had a child with a small piece of a toy up his nose, he put it there, we called the mom to take him to the doctor, anytime a child leaves the daycare to go to the doctor it needs to be reported. The child didnt actually go to the doctor mom was able to get the object out on her own. But it was already reported. The child was only here a short time that morning so it was unclear if he did it here or came here with it alteady in there, but the report was found unfounded. We had three people supervising children that day.
