Intensive week for our interns, introducing Kaylea! She is transitioning to child life from education because she has discovered the passion to support children at a deeper level understand the challenging things that life throws their way. She has a steady and safe presence with the kids she interacts with and is interested in the role of child life working in various community spaces such as advocacy centers.

Thank you to Salt and Light Partners for inviting us to your new chaplain training to learn about your work supporting first responders, their families, and those they serve. This was an incredible learning opportunity for our interns to see another lens of working in the community to provide support in hard and traumatic situations through use of presence, empathy, compassion, and relationship-building. We loved seeing the overlapping alignment of the mission, philosophy, and practices between chaplaincy and child life, as we both work to provide emotional support and mental well-being in the midst of difficulties and joys. “Chaplaincy is a ministry of presence” - what a beautiful truth.

We are making sure to tell our stories loud and proud at our Fall Pjs & PDUs half-day!! You do NOT want to miss this one! Panel of LIVING HISTORY of CCLS STILL working at the bedside with 45, 44, and 39 years respectively! 🤯 An opportunity to learn how we can transform trauma into GROWTH from an esteemed researcher! 🧐 And fresh from coming home from studying across the pond, Kate Hanley is going to share her deep dive into neurodiversity in families! 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒 We also have coffee sponsored by Laura Sufka | Child Life Specialist & Grief Support & a special lunch by HopeKids, Inc. with cake to celebrate their 20 year anniversary and many years of partnership with child life specialists! In a volatile environment of unexpected change, we are taking time to pause, breathe, reset, and go again, just like the lyrics suggest. Our partners are incredible and to have successfully launched 9 interns into the child life world in just over a year, with interns 10 & 11 starting tomorrow for fall 2026, is a crazy statistic to be proud of. We will be back, ready to keep pouring into the next generation of CCLS - for now we will celebrate the two students starting with us, support them as they rock their internships through November, and then take a big deep breath.
