MCC Upward Bound

Yesterday, Upward Bound went and had some scientific fun at the Rochester Museum & Science Ctr where they explored all things water, construction, the past, and the Electricity Theater. 💧🔧⚡️

Thank you Mr.Pyror for planning this trip to Baycreek to go on a hike and having us experience kayaking. 🥾🛶

Upward Bound took a trip out west to tour Niagara University and got up close and personal to one of the Natural Wonders of North America: Niagara Falls. 🌊
We even ran into another Upward Bound program! How exciting! 🤩

Today, we were got to visit Surge Tech, Hospitality, and Nursing over at the MCC Brighton Campus. At Surge Tech, the students were able to dress a knee injury, attempt to put the surgical tools out in the correct position, learn how surgeons wash their hands and put on their PPE, and preform a mock surgery. At Hospitality, the students made baked mac and cheese, cupcakes and a fruit cup. At Nursing, the students learned about CPR, the Heimlich Maneuver, their heart rates, and how to check their pulse.

A MAJOR thank you to our awesome alumni for coming out and talking to our kids about their experiences in Upward Bound and college, the struggles they’ve face and how they overcame them to become successful. 😊
