The Enhance Our Family Committee supported the University Preparatory Charter School Mental Health Fair on May 30. The school had specific activities on mental health for their middle and high school and sorors facilitated workshops and served as volunteers.

The Connections Social Action Social Justice Committee collaborated with The Rochester Regional Health to host a Black Maternal Health Symposium on April 13, 2026. The event was at the Little Theater. Dr. Twila Dillion was the keynote speaker. Dr. Lisa Harris was one of five panelists to share powerful resources birthing mothers and families.

On Saturday, April 11, five members of Delta Nu Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.® participated in the 3rd Annual Black Maternal Health Walk-a-thon held at the Greece Ridge Mall. Asia Brown, Marshae Puryear, Yunoka Fair, Kamille Bollar and Karen Barkley averaged over 2,500 steps supporting advocacy and awareness of the Black Maternal Health crisis.

Girls were able to pick a prom dress, shoes, jewelry and a purse, free of charge! As a added bonus one lucky young lady won a free prom makeup session.

During Black History Month, we celebrate leaders who continue to shape history. Kamala Harris made history as the first woman to serve as Vice President of the United States. Her journey reminds us that representation matters and that perseverance, education, and service can open doors for future generations.
