A $2,000–$6,500 electrical upgrade can change the economics of home EV charging pretty quickly.

Schneider Electric just introduced an interesting workaround.

Its new 11.5 kW Schneider Charge monitors household demand and automatically adjusts EV charging to the power actually available.

NACS or J1772. Dynamic load management. OCPP connectivity.

This is where EV charging is headed: The charger is becoming an energy management system.

The people installing, commissioning and supporting this equipment will need to understand a lot more than the plug. The equipment is getting smarter.

The workforce has to keep up.

California cut the ribbon on a battery this week that can power 385,000 homes.

New Jersey asked residents to plug their home batteries into the state grid. And offered to pay them for it.

A developer raised $300 million to build into two grids the country urgently needs.
And battery storage paired with EV charging just crossed 1 gigawatt globally, with 10 more planned.

The grid is not waiting for the conversation to catch up.

Autoweek put an interesting headline on the EV industry today:

Tesla won the EV plug war, but everyone benefits.

The news behind it deserves attention.

EVgo plans to deploy Tesla V4 Supercharger hardware at EVgo-owned and operated charging locations.

Tesla hardware. EVgo network. And the chargers are expected to support both J3400/NACS and CCS1.

A few years ago, the industry was debating which connector would win.

Now look where we are.

Tesla opened NACS.
SAE standardized it as J3400.
Major automakers adopted it.

Non-Tesla vehicles gained access to compatible Superchargers.

And now Tesla-developed charging hardware is moving onto another major charging network.

That’s progress.

Because the real prize was never bragging rights over a plug. It was getting more vehicles connected to more chargers with less friction.

For SkillFusion, there’s another part of this story worth watching.

Every time the charging ecosystem expands, the technical ecosystem expands with it.
More chargers to commission. More equipment to diagnose. More systems to maintain.More interoperability to understand.

And more people who need to know how all of it works.

Standardization can make charging easier for the driver.

The infrastructure behind that experience still requires a skilled workforce.

So yes, Tesla may have won the plug war. If this helps the industry build a more interoperable charging network, the rest of us may have won something considerably more useful.

Forward movement.

EV charging is creating a new conversation for property owners: Could charging become part of the business model?

Before you call an installer, choose equipment or start running the numbers, it helps to understand the industry you’re entering.

That’s where SkillFusion Fast Track starts.

In three hours, you’ll explore the basics of EV charging, the technology, terminology, infrastructure and industry landscape so you can better understand the opportunity in front of you.

You don’t have to become an EV charging expert.

You should know enough to ask better questions.

3 hours. $99. Online.

Learn the basics. Explore the opportunity.

We started this newsletter more than a year ago by following EV charging.

Then the story got bigger.

Charging started intersecting with battery energy storage. BESS increasingly connected with solar. Home charging became part of a much larger conversation about how energy is generated, stored, managed and used.

Follow one piece closely enough and you eventually see the whole system.

That is what the SkillFusion newsletter has become.

Every edition tracks the developments shaping this increasingly connected energy industry: new technology, major launches, partnerships, collaborations, infrastructure investments and the moves worth watching next.

We’ve been documenting that evolution for more than a year.

And considering how quickly this industry is moving, there is a lot to keep up with.

Our latest edition is out now.

When the biggest names in media have wanted to understand where EV charging is headed, they have come to us.

Automotive News Europe. USA Today. Inc. Magazine. New York Post. Business Insider. And so many more.

Our message has been consistent: the infrastructure is being built right now, and the trained workforce needs to upskill fast.

That's not a problem for the industry. That's an opening for anyone who moves first.

The people who get certified early aren't looking for work. The work is looking for them.

That's why our we created our SkillFusion Fast Track EV Charging Course.

The car in the driveway is now a dispatchable grid asset.

Not a concept. Not a pilot. An operating reality being documented in real time by grid operators, utilities, and EV charging infrastructure developers around the world. The data being produced right now will define how V2G programs get structured for the next decade.

Meanwhile, 52 gigawatts of battery storage is operational on the U.S. grid today.

Another 54 GW is planned by 2028. Nobody is slowing down.

This week's AMPED Energy Intel connects five stories that show exactly where the energy industry is headed and why the professionals who understand the full stack, from the charger to the battery to the solar to the grid, are the most in-demand technical workforce in the country right now.

A charging station opened yesterday in Warren, Michigan with 12 stalls carrying both CCS and NACS connectors.

That detail matters more than the ribbon cutting.

The industry has spent two years talking about the shift to NACS as if it were a switch. It isn’t. It’s a decade-long overlap where both standards live on the same site, and every technician, site planner, and fleet operator has to understand both.

The rest of the site tells you where design is heading: 350 kW, overhead canopy, and pull-through access so drivers towing trailers don’t have to unhitch to charge.

Someone thought about how people actually use these things.

Michigan’s EV count grew sixfold between 2021 and 2025. EVgo and GM have now built roughly 2,400 stalls across 32 states. The buildout is no longer about putting hardware in the ground. It’s about designing sites that work.

We track this because the systems arriving in the field today are what tomorrow’s workforce has to understand.
