An understanding of the past and its multiple and often conflicting interpretations, is essential to being an informed citizen of the United States and participant in the global environment of the modern world. The Center for Public History at Nazareth College will forge a link between the scholarly endeavors of academic historians and the broader community in order to promote a sense of history’s relevance. The Center promotes relationships among universities, museums and cultural centers, K-12 teachers, libraries, and governmental institutions at the local, state, and national levels. Its goal is to foster among college students and the broader public an understanding of the construction, preservation, and interpretation of our shared history, which occurs in many forms. These include, but are not limited to, historic sites, artifacts, monuments, and the variety of forms of modern media that serve as evidence of the moments and events of the past.

New Nazareth University President Maureen Finney, the first female physician assistant to lead a U.S. university, is deepening that partnership between Naz and . New programs in Physician Assistant studies, School Psychology, and Business and AI are already meeting workforce demand across the region, with a Nurse Practitioner program and a Social Work doctorate on the horizon.

President Finney is also building external connections across the business community as part of her push to grow Nazareth's reputation into a national one, and lift Rochester's profile right along with it.
