After receiving a new heart from a selfless donor, former Amerks and Sabres player Gates Orlando reflected on his journey when he first returned to the ice after a few years. 🏒
Today, over a decade from his transplant, Gates continues to honor the donor who made it possible by sharing his story and encouraging others to register as organ donors. “Paul saved my life, and by telling our story, we have an opportunity to save many more lives.”
Because of one decision from many over the last quarter-century, more memories, milestones, and moments have become possible for Strong patients.

The largest capital project in the University’s history at the time, the new tower transformed pediatric care in our region by providing a family-centered environment, advanced technology, and a space designed exclusively for children. We celebrate the community that made it possible and all the team members who have cared for our littlest patients.
