Yesterday I was honored to be among four amazing people, as we were all awarded a Jefferson award for public service by the multiplying good foundation. It was a beautiful ceremony and the videos that they made for each of us were absolutely incredible. On top of that, I found out that I am also the regional winner, and in September, I will go to New York City for the annual event where all the regional winners will come together, and someone will be a national winner. All of this was possible because Alejandra Gabriela Cedeño Barroso nominated me for my work getting glasses for kids.

On Friday , July 22, we are hosting a FREE eye clinic for adults to have a refractive eye exam and FREE reading or distance glasses made. Any adult is welcome with an appointment. This is a one-time event that we are offering through our East High Vision Care program with volunteer eye doctors from the Rochester community working with students of the East High Vision Care program (a job training program open to any East Upper school student!). We will make the glasses and give them out to patients the following week.

Vision care 2021-22 photo dump! Both doctor visits and dispensing glasses!

Is there anything better than leaving a School where a child is dancing because you just dropped off glasses for him? That is definitely one of the perks of my job!

2021-2022 is here and we are on fire! I’ve done some work updating our space and love the way this came out!

While this year has been difficult it is good to be starting back to school. The Vision Care program will not be hosting any events this year but we are able to make glasses for students for whom we have made in the past OR for those with valid prescriptions from their own eye doctors.

Yes, even in a pandemic we deliver glasses to kids in the Rochester City School district!
