Game of the day: High Frequency Word Dribble 🏀

Every bounce of the ball was a chance to read the word “has.” Movement, repetition, and a love for basketball turned word practice into a rhythm.

Two years ago, Sensational Inclusion began as a clear belief that children deserve learning spaces where they are understood, respected, and allowed to be themselves. What started as an idea has grown into a practice grounded in joy, play, literacy, and care.

This second year has been filled with learning, connection, and moments that reminded me why this work matters. I am deeply grateful to the families who trusted me with their babies. Walking alongside your children as they explored language, play, and learning has been an honor.

Sensational Inclusion has become a space where neurodiverse children are supported without being rushed or reshaped, where literacy is joyful, and where play is treated as meaningful, serious learning. I’ve watched children grow more confident, families feel more supported, and my own work become sharper and more intentional.

Two years in, I’m proud of what has been built and even more excited about what’s ahead. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.

Last tutoring session of 2025 and it went amazing 🥹✨

This year taught me so much about myself as a thinker, researcher, and educator. But even more about my tenacity, my ability to keep solving problems, to keep going, to keep believing in what’s possible for myself and children.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to have worked with dozens of new children and their families, and for the consulting side of Sensational Inclusion that allowed me to think, build, and dream alongside so many people 🤍

Spanish through play hits different 🤟🏾🔥

Today my learner didn’t practice colors. He created them.
We made color puppets he designed himself and then used them to talk, label, and take turns in Spanish.

Why this works
Language sticks when children are makers, not performers.

Play is the curriculum. Second language acquisition comes alive when the learning process belongs to them 💛

I love teaching Spanish because I know what it feels like to live inside a language, not just study it.

As a Spanish speaker with a background in TESOL, I teach language the way children actually learn it through play, meaning, and feeling safe enough to try.

Today, Spanish came alive through dinosaurs.🦕
We learned los números by counting dinosaurs, because that’s what this learner loves.

Reading comprehension comes alive when kids step inside the story ✨

After reading Mama Built a Little Nest, he built his own nests from sand and imagination. Then with Diggersaurs, he created a whole dig site where dinosaurs and construction trucks shared the same world.

When children create, they don’t just retell stories, they live them. That’s the magic of play-based reading 💛📚

✨ Did you know? Children who are able to connect sounds to letters in kindergarten are far more likely to become confident readers by third grade. In fact, early phonological awareness is one of the strongest predictors of later reading achievement (National Early Literacy Panel, 2008; Snow et al., 2020).

Now imagine a little boy crouched low to the ground, magnifying glass in hand, searching for the letters to spell the word van. What looks like play is actually the building of foundational brain pathways for reading, blending curiosity, imagination, and literacy.

When we nurture those moments of wonder, we aren’t just teaching children to read words. We’re teaching them to read the world. 📚🔍
