Hi, my students call me Mr. Falú. I am a Suzuki viola and violin teacher with 20+ years of experience teaching young children how to play. Now, I am looking for students to start a Suzuki First Steps class this Fall!

The class follows the Suzuki Early Childhood Education (SECE) philosophy, a program designed for children from birth to age 4 that aims to foster children's potential through music, movement, and interaction in a fun, engaging, and nurturing environment. The class also helps strengthen the parent role as their child’s first and most important teacher, while also centering on building a foundation for lifelong learning.

In essence, Suzuki Early Childhood Education is a holistic approach to early learning that combines musical activities, parent involvement, and a nurturing environment to foster a child's overall development and prepare them for instrument playing.

Today we said thank you, goodbyes, and wished him good luck as he moves onto his next chapter in life. Mal has been co-teaching group classes with me since September, but he’s been a member of AFalú Strings Studio since he was 12! 🫶🏽

Pictured below is him teaching the Pre-Twinkle class ALL ON HIS OWN! And let me tell you, these kids are sassy and spunky enough to make my head spin on a good day! 😅 But today, they all collaborated, focused and made beautiful music together. All thanks to Mal’s gentle guidance. He’ll do alright.

Our Winter Solo Recital went beautifully! Can you tell by all the smiles? ❤️🎻🎶

Oh my! I am so so happy for this kid! He is on a path to success and wonderful experiences that I can’t even begin to imagine! On Sunday, he got to perform with the Rochester Symphony as part of their Playing with the Pros program. He was the only violist (among other musicians) to perform and did so wonderfully showcasing his beautiful tone, his sharp agility and most impressively, his great focus and resilience!

Ben, I am so proud of the awesome musician you have become. But also, I am proud of YOU and the young man you are growing to be. Thank you for letting me be your teacher! 💪🏽💜🎻🎶

Ben Wieland, a junior at Mayo High School, was introduced to Suzuki viola at age 4. After early instruction with Paula Stewart and Michaela Sandness, he joined Angel Falu’s studio in 2016 where he continues with private instruction. Ben has enjoyed playing with SEMYO-Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestras since 2018. Other inspirational experiences include camps at Oberlin Conservatory, Interlochen, and Indiana University, and private instruction from Daniel Orsen of the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. Ben is grateful for all of his excellent teachers and to the Rochester community for supporting the gift of music to young people. Hear him perform Andante e rondo ongarese by Carl Maria von Weber at Playing with the Pros ! The concert is free and open to the public.
