Two years of Zoom calls, LinkedIn messages, career conversations—and, finally, one very special day in Boston. 💙💛

When University of Rochester student Sonia Irakoze '28 was matched with Steven Moskowitz '93 through URochester Connects Mentorship (formerly, The Meliora Collective Mentorship Program) two years ago, neither knew exactly where the connection would lead.

What started as a match became a lasting connection, with Steven offering guidance as Sonia navigated school, engineering, career decisions, and what came next.

Last month, after two years of connecting from afar, they finally met in person—exploring Boston, visiting the Mapparium, and talking for hours.

Sonia described it best: “It honestly didn’t feel like meeting for the first time. It felt like catching up with an old friend.”

From Eastman students to Grammy Award winners—and now, back to where it all began. 🎶🏆

Founded at the Eastman School of Music 25 years ago, Alarm Will Sound has been hailed as the future of American classical music. This Meliora Weekend, the group returns to its alma mater, led by Eastman alumni Alan Pierson ’06E (DMA) and Gavin Chuck ’96E (MA), ’04E (PhD).

Fresh off a 2026 Grammy win, Alarm Will Sound will take the stage at Kodak Hall with a performance inspired by electronic music, jazz, film, classical music, and more. With so many musical influences in the mix, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Effective today, the University of Rochester School of Nursing is the School of Nursing & Health Sciences.

The new name honors our nursing foundation while reflecting our longstanding work across education, research, and practice at URochester Medicine—and the future we are building in the health sciences.

Together, we are preparing future health professionals to lead, discover, and improve lives.
