Last but not least…we’re closing out Senior Spotlight with our second Co-President, Earl😎😎

I first joined FASA as a general member back in my freshman year because I wanted to find a community where I could feel a sense of belonging. Being from LA/Historic Filipinotown and growing up surrounded by so much Filipino culture and community, it felt difficult to navigate a new place, new experiences, and new people here in Rochester.

Over the years, I’ve been so lucky and fortunate to witness the growth of the club and the strong sense of community it has fostered. I’ve had so many experiences I never thought I would have during my college years, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of them.

Many of the memories and friendships I’ll cherish after graduation come from this club. From cooking sessions to e-board meetings, and interacting with different members of the campus community to expand our reach, it has all been such a rewarding experience. Everything has come full circle, and I’m so glad I stayed and made the most of it.

First up on Senior Spotlight is our Swagpino Co-Prez Kirya!! 😎😎

Here are a few words from Kirya about what FASA has meant to her:

The college experience is the most beautiful and delicate thing. We make such precious memories during this time and experience such beautiful, ephemeral moments. FASA helped me experience this to the fullest. It became a community of incredibly warm and supportive friends that I never imagined I could have.

These friendships showed me how to grow my self-confidence, how to nurture my interpersonal relationships, and how to give back to my community.
Ultimately, because of the beautiful friendships I made through this organization, I became driven to pay forward this same level of comfort, joy, and unity through leadership. I served as secretary and co-president, contributing my own ideas to the club and helping execute both large-scale events and small GMMs alike. I hope that those who engage with FASA feel excited, welcomed, and accepted in the same way that I did. As I graduate, I feel so proud of those on E-Board and of the future generations to come.

FASA was an integral part of my college experience, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. I hope that more students, regardless of ethnicity, join in the future and share in this beautiful experience :)
