Welcome to American Medical Women's Association, Branch 329! This page is for the Undergraduate AMWA chapter on campus at Oakland University. Our purpose is to inform, unite, and serve women in health care-specifically future female physicians. The organization as a whole was founded by Dr. Bertha VanHoosen from Chicago exactly 100 years ago (1915). In those days, women physicians were an under-re

presented minority and as they began to enter the field, issues arose that AMWA helped to address. Today, AMWA continues to evolve and aid women physicians as there are now 9 regions which are all comprised of physicians, residents, medical students, pre-medical students, health care professionals, and supporters. Our initiatives are numerous including Breast Cancer Task Force, Gender Equity task Force, Human Trafficking, Alcohol Awareness and many more. It is a privileged and a pleasure to continue AMWA's legacy. Thank you all who stop by to lend your opinions, interest, and support.
