Good morning, Janet here! I wanted to take a minute to thank everyone on behalf of Melody, Sally and I for reaching out to thank us for trying to plan our 40th reunion. We have had a few messages, text and phone calls from people not understanding and disappointed so I thought I would take a minute to explain how the planning works.
We are not an elected committee. We are just classmates that decided to volunteer years ago to plan and it has continued from there. We usually have a diverse group of people that help us out via meeting or this year via group message. This group helps by reaching out to their friends to ensure the message reaches as many classmates as possible. You know who you are and we thank you so much for you help trying to spread the word. It’s not always an easy task 40 years later!
Every time we start planning we put our own money down for all the deposits. Venue, dj, and in the past stamps and invitations. If we are lucky we make enough back to cover all costs. Most times we do, but there have been times we haven’t. This year we have had a NON REFUNDABLE deposit of $1,000 down for deposits for months. WE would have needed 100 people to attend to break even. It became very clear a week ago when we had less than 40 it wasn’t going to happen. We reached out to the vendors and BEGGED for our deposits back and they graciously said if we cancelled now, leaving them time to possibly fill the spot they would return our deposit. You can only imagine how relieved we were to get that money back! We never would have put deposits down if we knew we would have had such a low turnout. And that’s ok, we understand that life is busy and this year just won’t work for most people.
Again, thank you to those that sent positive input and I hope this helps for those that are struggling to understand.

It is with deepest regret that we must cancel the 40th reunion. Unfortunately, there wasn’t enough interest (or purchased tickets) to cover the costs of this event.

For those who had already purchased tickets, you will receive a full refund via Eventbrite. This will take at least a week to process, so please be patient Should you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to a committee member at [email protected].
