Our students spoke, and we're listening! Rochester High School is taking another step to support a safe, healthy learning environment for our students.

As highlighted in a recent WAND News story, the high school is investing in new v**e detectors designed to help deter va**ng and reduce disruptions during the school day. The goal is not punishment, but prevention, keeping bathrooms clean, students in class, and connecting any student who needs help with the right support.

Rochester High School has confiscated dozens of v**e devices this school year. Now, the district has invested in v**e detectors to help crack down on teen va**ng.

Congrats to Sophia Garcia Vandyke.

For the first time in the district’s history Rochester Schools will now have a student representative on the board of education.

This important moment give students an active voice and advocate to the board of education. We’re excited to see the impact that Sophia will have for good.

Due to extremely cold temperatures in the morning, all Rochester Schools, including the Blastoff Kids Academy, will be closed on Friday, January 23rd, and there will be no bus routes running.

As a result, all athletics, clubs, and extracurricular activities are optional. Please reach out to your student's coach or sponsor for more information.

The Board of Education has rescheduled it's regular meeting for Tuesday, January 27th, 2026.

The Board made this decision to ensure that all Board members can be in attendance, as several important items will be discussed. To better accommodate visitors, the meeting will be held in the Rochester High School auditorium and will also be streamed, as is regular practice.

Rochester Schools was just notified of a coming community wide power outage. Our schools have plans in place and classes will continue like normal. This outage will cause phones and internet outages at schools and contact will be limited until power is restored. Further communications to come.
