Do you know a 16-18-year-old interested in a healthcare career? The Nex+Gen of Surgery PAID summer internship is the only program of its kind in the region, offering 15+ teens opportunities to work within surgery specialties, operating rooms, labs, and libraries. The six-week summer program starts in July at URMC Strong Memorial Hospital and prepares Rochester students for college and careers in medicine. Sign up to attend an upcoming info session.

Mentorship is at the heart of Future Ready.

In our year-round Future Ready program, students in grades 6–12 work one-on-one with Navigators and Mentors who helps them plan for graduation, explore college and career pathways, and prepare for the workforce. While tutoring and job-readiness training build skills, mentorship provides the consistency and guidance students need to turn opportunity into real progress.

Students are coached 1:1 and in groups to connect their efforts today to long-term milestones, whether that’s earning a diploma, succeeding in a first job, or envisioning a future they once thought was out of reach. These mentors help students make sense of expectations and prepare for the realities of life in different aspects. More importantly, they provide steady guidance and accountability during the years when students are making decisions that shape their futures.
