Garth Fagan Dance School

Hi all! Wanted to share that there is still time to sign up for Garth Fagan Dance's Summer Movement Institute (SMI)!

SMI is a three week summer program that offers students an opportunity to study the Fagan Technique, learn choreography by Garth Fagan, study from our professional company, and take cultural field trips around Rochester. Garth Fagan is most famous for choreographing the Lion King on Broadway, but that is just a sliver of the many accomplishments he and his company have achieved. The company has a 55 year legacy here in Rochester.

Class Schedule:
- July 6th - July 25

- 9:30am - 4:30pm

- Classes Monday - Friday

- Classes are located at RIT but there will be transportation offered to and from downtown and the RIT campus.

- We have two programs running simultaneously. One of teens (12-17) and one for adults (18+)

Classes offered:

-Fagan Technique
-Composition
-Repertory
-Rotating classes in various styles
- Cultural field trips

We believe that dance should be accessible to all, and have many scholarship opportunities available. If the full day of classes is too much, we also allow for folks to just attend morning technique class.

Students from Rochester Prep joined us at our studio last Friday to take a beginner class in Fagan Technique, with Company Dancer Ethan Beckwith-Cohen. We loved having them! Special thanks to former Principal Dancer, Adriane B Hodge, for working with us to make this class possible, and for taking class as well!

Showcase last weekend spoke to the young talent, creativity, artistry, and dedication that is present in our Student Ensemble. We are SO incredibly proud! They danced beautifully and impressed us all. Thank you to all who attended. Parents, family, friends, and community members. Your support allows us to continue investing in young artists.
