Undergraduate tutors at the University of Rochester who are available to help with writing assignments. We also have WALK-IN HOURS!

The Writing Fellows are undergraduates trained to help their peers with any type of writing at any stage in the writing process, including WRT 105/105E/105AB papers, lab reports, grad school admissions essays, and more! The Speaking Fellows are also undergraduates trained to help their peers prepare for a variety of speaking-related situations, from giving a presentation in class to practicing an

It's time to meet another Fellow! Meet Angie!

Angie Pham (she/her) is a member of the class of 2024 majoring in Digital Media Studies and Computer Science. She is from Hanoi, Vietnam and she speaks Vietnamese and English. Angie's favorite thing about working in WSAP is getting to talk to people about their writing and helping them feel more confident in their work. A fun fact about Angie is that she has a plushie chicken named Boop, and she is the Publicity Chair for Rochester Design.

It's time for Fellow Friday! Meet Kharissa!

Kharissa King (she/her) is a member of the class of 2022. She is majoring in Computer Science and minoring in French. She's from Kingstown, Jamaica. Kharissa speaks English and Jamaican Patois. Her favorite thing about working in WSAP is guiding writers through the frustrating process of translating their ideas into words on paper. She feels that the relief and confidence they feel afterwards is truly rewarding. Outside of WSAP, Kharissa is also involved with the Student Organization for Caribbean Awareness and Women and Minorities in Computing.

Hey, UR! The Writing Fellows are excited to announce that we are now offering extra appointments! From 7pm-9pm during all our regular hours, we will be offering additional appointments, meaning that you have more chances to be tutored. As a reminder, we are open Monday-Thursday from 7pm-11pm, and Sunday from 5pm-11pm. Follow the link in our bio to sign up today!

We're excited to introduce one of our new Fellows this Fellow Friday, Mahnoor!

Mahnoor Raza (she/her) is a member of the class of 2024. She is double majoring in English Literature and Political Science and she is from Islamabad, Pakistan. Mahnoor speaks English and Urdu. Her favorite thing about working in WSAP is watching people's work transform over the course of a session. A fun fact about Mahnoor is that her comfort movie is Little Women (2019)!

Elizabeth (she/her) is a member of the class of 2023. She is double majoring in Music and Public Health. Elizabeth is from Darien, CT. She speaks English and Spanish. It's time to introduce another Fellow! Meet Kendall!

Kendall (she/her) is a member of the class of 2023. She studies Ecology and Evolutionary Biology with a minor in Anthropology. Her hometown is Austin, Texas! Kendall speaks both English and a bit of Spanish. Her favorite thing about working in WSAP is that it gives her the chance to meet new people and help them feel confident in their writing! When not working in WSAP, Kendall does cancer research at the medical center. A fun fact about Kendall is that her favorite movie is Shrek!

Tommy (he/him) is a member of the class of 2022. He is majoring in Political Science with minors in Biology and Ethics. Tommy is from Mentor, OH. His favorite thing about working in WSAP is that he gets to learn more about new topics through the work of other students. A fun fact about Tommy is that he loves playing roundnet in his free time!

The Writing Fellows are hiring! If you're interested in tutoring or writing, you may want to consider applying. We are looking for Fellows from all backgrounds from any discipline.

If you're interested, we are tabling this week in Hirst Lounge, so come ask us your questions! You may also want to come to our GIMs! We will have GIM this Thursday, 2/10, in G-121, Conference Room A, from 7pm-8pm. We'll also meet via Zoom from 12:30-1:30pm on Friday, 2/11.

Get excited...

Now that we're back in person, we are excited to announce that the Writing Center will be opening February 1st. We are open 7pm-11pm Mondays-Thursdays, and 5pm-11pm Sundays. From Zoom tutoring to in-person appointments, as well as walk-in sessions, you can definitely find the right type of tutoring for you.

With the new announcements from the University, the Writing Fellows will not be opening until we are back in-person. However, we are excited to announce that Write-On will be opening for the spring semester this Sunday, January 23rd! Write-On is a service that allows you to receive asynchronous feedback from a Writing Fellow within 48 hours. It's a great way to get tutored during these virtual times.
