📸 School Picture Day is Tuesday, October 6th, and we can’t wait to see those smiles! Order forms will be sent home, or you can pre-order online at the link in our bio. Online ordering will stay open for 48 hours after Picture Day, making it super easy to check it off your list. If you miss that window, no problem—late orders will ship right to your home for a small fee.

Make-up and retakes will happen on Friday, November 13th!

Students in 2D Art are playing with dots and learning more about patterns and contrast! One student was so inspired that they took their learning a little further. They took the idea of dots and used their favorite digital art program to make this incredible piece. Watch the video to see Fizz zooming in and out of the work!

Future opportunities start right here on campus! 🎓✨

Last week, we hosted the College Admissions in the Rochester Area (CARA) College Fair. Representatives from 16 colleges and universities joined us to connect directly with our Upper School students, share insights about higher education options, and highlight what makes their programs unique.

Events like these give AC students a head start on discovering their path, asking meaningful questions, and exploring the many ways to succeed after graduation.

So many students had cameras in their hands during the first two weeks of school.

Middle school digital photo spent time in the courtyard looking for examples of the rules of photography. They control all aspects of their camera including aperture, shutter speed, and focus.

Upper schoolers in portfolio, honors, and honors 2 have explored photographing studio set ups as well as searching for natural forms outside.

Digital Media Production are learning how to control aperture and shutter speed and tell a story using their viewpoint through a viewfinder.

Video production students spent time looking through a lens and composing shots for their own films and projects.

Finally, Darkroom students developed their first roll of film on Friday and will make contact prints of their film today!

Wondering how we are starting the school year in our STEM classes?

Students in our LS STEM classroom are demonstrating some creative building in the LS STEM Construction Zone. Look at those engineers go!

6th graders demonstrate the scientific method as they answer "which side of a penny can hold more water?" Middle school students in the engineering & entrepreneurship elective have been testing the strength of shapes this week as they explore structural engineering. 7th grade students learned how to use microscopes and find specimens to investigate. Forensic students analyzed and sketched a crime scene.

Upper school students collaborate to solve problems in math class. 10th grade physics students gather data to explore what graphs can tell us about motion. Environmental science students modeled plate tectonics to discuss plate boundaries and volcanos and earthquakes.
