In the 1955 RAJUCO Yearbook, students expressed something that still resonates today:
"Did you ever think that the day would come when you actually would have to sit down and choose one particular college from among so many? Well, that day did arrive, and obviously, we all chose R.J.C., each for our own personal reasons. Some of us wanted a small college located close to home; some needed to take special courses; some desired the more intimate relationships between fellow students and faculty for which J.C. is well known; most of us wanted an inexpensive but still outstanding college. All these things J.C. had to offer, and we came."
More than 70 years later, that sentiment remains true. Students continue to choose RCTC, whether they knew it as RJC, RCC, RAJUCO, or Rochester Community and Technical College, for many different reasons. Some come for affordability, some for opportunity, some to stay close to home, and others to pursue their dreams through exceptional education.
While the reasons may vary, the outcome remains the same: RCTC empowers students to thrive in an ever-changing and diverse society by providing access to exceptional education.
