I recently wrapped up an 18-hour workshop on AI and web design with Vitaly Friedman of Smashing Magazine and wanted to share what I took away from it.
The short version: most small business websites don't need AI right now. There is a lot of noise out there and it can be hard to sort the useful stuff from the hype. After 18 years of building websites for small businesses across the South Sound, my advice is to focus on getting the basics right first.
That said, AI isn't just chatbots. Some of it is already quietly built into tools we use every day. It's worth understanding even if you don't need to act on it yet.
