Congratulations to Mrs. Nelson, Longfellow 45-15 - Rochester teacher, who was selected as the 2018 Public Health Champion! This award recognizes the exceptional contributions to improving our collective health and making Olmsted County a healthier place to live, learn, work and play. Mrs. Nelson's achievements and passion for children and their health and wellness, through her leadership in the All City Track meet, FUTP60, Jamming Jumpers and more, rose to the top among the excellent nominations.

Mrs. Nelson received her award today...we are so proud of your hard work and dedication to our community!

Got this message from a student I worked with at Gage Elementary and John Adams. I’m proud of the father and human being he has become!

I want you to know..

1. You seriously helped me at an impressionable time in my life. Even if it felt like nothing at the time, you really helped.

2. I am more than impressed in what you do for your students. I see your posts on Facebook and honestly hope I can do that much for people some day.

3. You're talking about those kids as if they're you're own instead of just a responsibility, that goes far in my book.

4. I know at least ten other people who think highly of you for just taking an hour out of your day to help some kids in need of small group interaction.

5. You're just an amazing guy, even in 5th grade when you were a TA, you had a whole class room looking up to you like you were the coolest cat to strut the halls.

You're doing above and beyond for others, I thought I would spend 5 seconds typing out a reminder that it's not taken for granted. Would love to get together with all of the kids some time and just hang out.

Great group of kids!! Ended the season winning 7 of 10 games and finished 4th place out of twelve.
