We had a visit from the Haru Trio, students at the Eastman School of Music, today. Beautiful music and focused, interested students--it was a beautiful morning.

We had a field trip to School of the Arts to see a preview of the dance recital. It was BEAUTIFUL. We had a great time! So lucky that we have a district where opportunities like this are available--to audience members and performers alike!

🏫🚌📚Our first night of our Parent Student Academy on last Wednesday evening:
•We are learning about the seven keys to reading comprehension. Our students and parents are learning strategies to help them become better readers writers listeners. 👩‍🏫👩🏽‍🏫
•If we are readers, we know that we are more than likely to become good writers.
•Students are given an opportunity to read to their parents or guardians, and their guardians are given a chance to read with their children and they complete reading logs together.
•Parents have the opportunity to speak with other parents and engage in conversation. •Students were also given opportunities to engage with their peers.

Due to sub zero temperatures, forecasted wind gusts, and early morning travel conditions, all Rochester City School District schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, 2026. All school related activities, events, and athletics are also canceled.

We appreciate the significant efforts underway across the city to clear roadways and improve conditions. At the same time, student arrival occurs during early morning hours when extreme cold, wind chill, and sidewalk and bus stop access can pose safety concerns, particularly for younger students and those with mobility or health considerations.

This decision reflects our responsibility to prioritize student safety based on conditions present at the start of the school day. All ASAR and Exempt employees are expected to report as normal.
