Transition week was very busy at Project SEARCH. The interns went on a tour of City Hall and spent some time with the Mayor, they met with Jessica at Canandaigua Bank to learn about banking and finances, they met with Dana from OPWDD, they presented to students in the NYSAA program at Edison about Project SEARCH, and they had their interviews with their second internship rotation supervisors. In between all the activities they took some time to check out the gifts in the Christmas stockings personalized with their names and prepared by Terry Chatterton O'Hare

Today was a big day for the RCSD Project SEARCH interns.
Jamile was able to job shadow Kyasia at the Water Bureau. Kyasia finished her internship there today and Jamile will do her second rotation there starting in January. Kyasia taught Jamile the bus route to/ from the job site, introduced her to the supervisors and gave her an overview of what the tasks are! Jamile also had her interview with the supervisor at the Water Bureau and was formally offered the internship position for rotation #2 !
All of the interns asked their supervisors from their first rotation internship if they would be a reference for them when they start applying for jobs and all the supervisors were happy to be a reference. The interns collected all the information they will need to include their supervisors as a references on future job applications.
The interns also received their first stipend check for $200 just in time for the holidays ! A very generous donor from the Community Foundation made it possible for each intern to receive a stipend check at the end of each rotation.

Today the Project SEARCH interns toured the Hall of Justice. They learned about all the different employment opportunities at the Hall of Justice, how to apply, and what makes a good employee . They also learned a lot of information about the courts. Many thanks to all of the staff at the Hall of Justice who took time today to talk to the interns! We greatly appreciated it !

First Friday Follow-Up
This month, we are featuring Sophie, a 2022 graduate. Sophie was a very reliable intern. She had excellent attendance and an interest in food service. Sophie works at Monroe Community Hospital, in the Food and Nutrition Department. She tells us that her favorite part of the job is meeting new people and learning new skills. Thanks for coming to visit us this week, Sophie. We are so proud of you!
