NAfME is so excited to welcome everyone back to Eastman for the spring semester. What better way to celebrate than with an ice cream social!

Come by January 31st @ 7:00 to catch up with friends, find out about the exciting events we have planned this semester, and enjoy some free ice cream. We hope to see you all there!

We have finally reached the end of the semester and we are so excited to announce NAfME’s last event of the semester!

Introducing Beginner’s Band! This jam session welcomes students who have taken any methods courses and would like to show what they’ve learned. No judgement, just a fun time!

Fill out the google form to participate as an instrumentalist, and arranger, or a composer. Hope to see you there!

Now, we are diving back into the semester with NAfME’s upcoming event! On October 23rd at 7:00 in the Orchestra Pit, we will be watching Pixar’s Soul and making fun crafts. We hope you can all attend to hang out with your fellow NAfME members and take a break from this hectic season.

Last but not least… let us introduce our President!!

Isa Apodaca (they/them) is a senior Vocal Performance and Music Education double major. They have roots in Los Angeles, Colorado, and Manhattan but have lived in Rochester full-time since freshman year. While singing is their greatest passion, they have also played saxophone and piano for several years. Also, a board member of Eastman’s Latin American and Hispanic Student Association (ELHSA) and Eastman’s Disability Alliance (EDA), they hope to contribute as much as possible to student communities and growth this year!

Let’s introduce our Vice President!!

Sofia Martinez is a junior voice performance and music education major. She served as the secretary of NAfME last year and is ELHSA vice president this year as well. Sofia is the cover for Elizabeth Kertesz in the Eastman Opera Theatre production of CLICK! this fall, and has sung as a soloist in BWV 108 as well as the Eastman Treble Chorus. She is excited for a fun year with NAfME!

Let’s introduce our Treasurer!!

Hi! I’m Daniel Perez! I’m a junior vocal performance and music ed major at Eastman. I am the treasurer of NAfME and I’m so excited to be here! I love learning about different languages, Star Wars, and of course opera. I’m from Miami, FL! I hope to see you at our meetings!

Let’s introduce our Secretary!!

Amanda Falls is a junior music education and soprano vocal performance major at the Eastman School of Music. Apart from NAfME, she also serves as the Students Association Chief of Staff, the Sigma Alpha Iota secretary, and the First Generation Honors Society Vice President. During her time at Eastman, Amanda has sung solos with the Eastman Treble Choir, Repertory Singers, and the Eastman Chorale. Amanda has also performed as a mezzo in BWV 89 under the direction of Yiran Zhao. She is looking forward to a great year and can’t wait to get started!

Introducing NAfME’s 2025-2026 Public Relations officer!!

Kai Harrington (they/them) is a 2nd year music education and vocal performance major at the Eastman School of Music studying with Professor Katherine Ciesinski. In addition to serving as the Public Relations officer for NAfME, they also serve as the Secretary of Public Relations for Student’s Association and as President of ACDA. During their time at Eastman, Kai has been featured in BWV 151 as directed by Xintong Li and Schola Cantorum at Christ Church. They are also very grateful to have been cast in Eastman’s Fall Opera, “In a Grove”, as the cover for the Medium. Overall, Kai is beyond excited to be a part of this team and they are eager to see what lies ahead this year.
