CTE seeks to create a small middle and high school that is customized to serve the needs of students to both support them to graduate from high school, prepare them for higher education and job opportunities in science, industry, and technology. Objective:
The Rochester Career and Technical Education Charter School is a proposed public middle and high school customized to serve the needs of its students to both support them to graduate from high school, and prepare them for higher education and job opportunities in the future global marketplace. In particular, industry projection research indicates that skills and expertise in data, analytics, computer science, health sciences and technology will be prized across all sectors. The School seeks to open in fall 2023 serving 6th and 9th grade students and will grow to serve 6-12 grade students:
- Offering 6th grade in Year 1, we seek to provide a robust educational offering and additional support for students who are historically not prepared for high school.
- Too many Rochester public school students are dropping out of high school. Offering 9th grade in Year 1, we seek to serve students who are at risk of dropping out of high school, have dropped out, or are identified as over-age and under accredited. Mission:
Rochester Career and Technical Education Charter School will prepare students for career pathways in the future global marketplace. Through experiential learning, internships and post-secondary credits, students will access a ladder of opportunities to equip them with the skills, credits and certification for entrance into institutions of higher education and career pathways, based on their interests. Outcomes:
- Students in Grades 6-12 will have the opportunity to combine high school studies with post-secondary skills.
- Students will have the opportunity to earn an industry-based certification in multiple areas of interest including data, analytics, computer science, health sciences and technology.
- Students will have multiple pathways to high-school graduation and earn credits towards institutions of higher education.
