General Surgery Residency - Mayo Clinic

Pictures from this year’s BSCAM (Basic Surgical Critical Care Assessment and Management)! Led by Dr. Strajina, Dr. Vu, and SCC fellows Max and Sergio. Our interns reviewed management of shock, renal injury, electrolyte imbalances, dysrhythmias and MI, ventilators, traumatic brain injury, and practiced intubation, central line placement, FAST exams, chest tube placement, surgical airways, and bronchoscopy. All of this is to make sure they feel prepared to take on an ICU senior role in July! 💊 🧠🔪🩻👩🏽‍⚕️

Congratulations to our new Chiefs!

It’s Friday and our interns/soon to be PGY2s had a very special simulation session. Drs. Vu and Davis walked them through open and laparoscopic Inguinal hernia repairs using cadavers. Each intern had an opportunity to perform an open dissection and mesh placement and then insert trocars and perform laparoscopic pre-peritoneal dissection so they could see their mesh from another angle. We love watching their confidence and skill grow, tension free, layer by layer ❤️
