New CBCT regulation!

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has adopted new requirements for dental practices using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) equipment, effective July 22, 2026.

NYSDA opposed the CBCT accreditation requirement through public comments, meetings with NYSDOH, and continued advocacy efforts. While the requirement is now final, NYSDA is working to support members by meeting with accrediting organizations to explore options that will help simplify the compliance process and make accreditation as accessible and affordable as possible.
