Possibly one of the corniest things I have ever done but Lettered by Katherine turning 5 years old this month called for some corniness!
This little business has been such a fun journey for me and ohhhh the things I have learned along the way (I did not know how to “work smarter not harder” for quite some time):
- I started with just an Instagram account in 2018 to document my calligraphy progress and projects, but was not a business until I took the leap in 2021
-I had an Etsy shop for a minute (shout out to the few customers I had before I realized that was NOT my calling)
-I put my focus onto weddings and had my work featured in some magazines, including !
- I started teaching classes, and have had the opportunity to host at so many different places (hi, , , , to name a few!)
-I learned how to engrave and began offering that as a service (and then woodburning, heat foiling, leather debossing, etc…)
-I began receiving inquiries for live events and figured that out essentially through trial and error
Now I am looking forward by planning new offerings, limiting or discontinuing others, and working to get my workflows more organized and efficient so more of my focus can be on the art of it all. I have already had an incredible year so far, and I’m excited to see what else 2026 will bring! Thanks for indulging me with my trip down memory lane, and huge thank you to all the other artists I have met, worked with, and learned from along the way 🤍
