We are hosting our 3rd annual director Q&A on Monday evening! Super excited to chat with Prof. Kerro Knox 3 about his various roles around Varner, some of the current and future plans for SMTD, and to answer all of your questions! Held in the Oakland Center's Habitat, students will have the opportunity to perform on their secondary instrument. This event will also be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person!

SO excited for MMC this week! 🎉

Here’s a rundown of OU NAfME’s participation this year! Swipe to see descriptions of each event.

Dr. Mitchell and the Oakland University Chorale are performing for the MSVMA conducting symposium to kick off the conference. So excited that they were chosen to be the guest performing ensemble!

The NAfME Collegiate meet and greet is Friday evening - come hang out with your fellow collegiates! I’m excited to meet many of you in person!

Both of our faculty advisors, Dr. Klena and Dr. Bennett, are presenting at 11:00am on Saturday! Looking forward to learning from them.

Our president, Hannah, is speaking on Trauma-Informed Education on Saturday afternoon, and check out .collegiate.nafme’s post to see the other two collegiate events that the board put together this year.

Finally, make sure to stop by Oakland’s booth! We’re #39! 🤓

Oakland University NAfME is entering WEEK 2 of our fundraiser with .collegiate.nafme in support of Accent Pontiac, a local nonprofit whose mission is to provide accessible music education to young people in Pontiac, MI. 💙

Accent Pontiac supports their community by reducing the traditional cost and transportation access barriers to music education, and is passionate about creating social change through music. There are currently over 200 students benefiting from Accent Pontiac's programs, all of which are free of charge. Students have opportunities to participate in bucket band ensembles, enrichment activities, and group lessons on woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments. Accent Pontiac also provides food to students in their after-school programs.
