As a mom, I often find myself chasing other things to delight my heart.
I want to maintain a perfectly clean home, cook delicious meals made from scratch, plan all the fun family activities, workout, etc.
I tell myself that if I have things in order, then I’ll be calm and a more patient mother.
In actuality, the only thing I need to focus my heart on is the Lord. He will grant me the desires He knows are good for me.
The house is messy? There is joy in the evidence of us living in it.
A meal had to be simplified or picked up from somewhere? Thank God for the nourishment.
At home on the weekend? We can find rest and reconnect.
Missed yet another workout? Praise God for the little people that need your care more in this season of life.
There is so much to be joyful for as mothers jf we shift our mind away from the worldly standard of perfect motherhood (which by the way, doesn’t exist) and instead delight ourselves in the Lord.
“Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4
