🦁🐘 Zoo Field Study & Animal Scavenger Hunt! 🦒🦭

Learning came to life as our students set off on an exciting field study to the zoo! Equipped with their animal scavenger hunt sheets, they became young scientists, carefully observing habitats, identifying different animals, and checking off each discovery along the way.

The scavenger hunt encouraged students to compare animal characteristics, practice observation skills, follow directions, and work together as they explored the zoo.

Experiences like these help children connect classroom learning to the real world, building vocabulary, critical thinking, and a lifelong appreciation for wildlife and conservation. There’s no better classroom than the world around us!

🫧 Car Wash Sensory Fun! 🚗✨

Our students had a blast transforming our classroom into a busy little car wash! Equipped with toothbrushes, soapy water, and lots of concentration, they scrubbed, rinsed, and cleaned muddy toy cars while building fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and problem-solving abilities.

This hands-on experience helped foster meaningful connections to the real world. By recreating an everyday activity many children see at home or in their community, students were able to explore the purpose of washing vehicles while expanding their vocabulary, engaging in imaginative play, and strengthening their understanding of everyday routines.

🦕❄️ Dinosaur Rescue: Frozen in Ice! ❄️🦕

Our students became junior paleontologists as they worked to rescue dinosaurs trapped inside blocks of ice! Using tools and warm water, they observed, experimented, and problem-solved to free their prehistoric friends.

This hands-on STEM activity encouraged children to:
🧊 Explore how ice changes as it melts.
🔍 Make observations and predictions.
🦖 Strengthen fine motor skills while carefully chipping and squeezing the ice.
💡 Practice patience, critical thinking, and perseverance as they discovered the best ways to rescue each dinosaur.

Digging Beneath the Surface with STEM! 🌎

Our students had an exciting time exploring Earth science by creating models of the Earth’s four layers using colorful playdough! As they rolled, shaped, and layered each color, they learned about the crust, mantle, outer core, and inner core. Once their models were complete, they sliced them in half to reveal what the inside of our planet looks like!

This hands-on STEM experience encouraged students to:
🌍 Explore Earth science concepts in a meaningful way
✋ Strengthen fine motor skills through molding and shaping
🧠 Build critical thinking and sequencing skills
🔬 Learn through creativity, observation, and discovery

At Caring and Sharing Child Care Center, we love creating learning experiences that spark curiosity and allow students to explore big ideas through hands-on investigation. Science is always more exciting when students can create, discover, and share their learning!

🌱 Growing More Than a Garden 🌱

Our students had an incredible day exploring the Parsells Community Garden! They planted seeds, watered the garden, discovered vegetables and flowers, observed how plants grow, and even had the opportunity to taste fresh herbs right from the garden.

Just as every seed needs sunlight, water, patience, and care to grow, children thrive when they are nurtured with love, encouragement, and meaningful learning experiences. Every question they ask, every new skill they practice, and every experience they have is a seed being planted for their future.

🥕🛒 A Trip to the Rochester Public Market! 🌽🍅

Today our students took learning beyond the classroom with a hands-on trip to the Rochester Public Market! Armed with their grocery lists, they searched for fresh vegetables, identified healthy foods, and checked off each item as they explored the market.

This experience was about so much more than shopping, it introduced important life skills that will benefit our students for years to come. As they discussed prices, compared produce, and learned how families shop for ingredients, they were building early financial literacy by understanding the value of money, making thoughtful choices, and planning purchases.

Our visit also encouraged healthy eating habits by exposing students to a variety of fresh vegetables and sparking conversations about nutritious foods. We can’t wait to bring our groceries back to the classroom, where students will help prepare simple recipes and enjoy hands-on cooking experiences that build confidence, independence, and an appreciation for trying new foods.

☀️💦 Our Summer Program is officially making a splash! 💦☀️

What a fun way to kick off our first day of swim lessons! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️ Before entering the pool, our students learned important water safety rules and listened carefully to their instructors. Then it was time to jump in, build confidence, practice new swimming skills, and most importantly, have fun!
